MHPI AND RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES, INC. HAVE MERGED TO FORM MAINSTAY SUPPORTIVE HOUSING & HOME CARE

Newton, MA – MHPI, Inc. (formerly Mental Health Programs, Inc.) and Residential Support Services, Inc. have merged to form a new organization, Mainstay Supportive Housing & Home Care.

MHPI, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1975, was a pioneer in the world of service-enriched affordable housing, ultimately developing and managing 15 projects throughout Greater Boston and Greater Worcester. Residential Support Services, Inc. was founded in 1999 to provide supportive services to residents of MHPI, Inc. housing projects and nearby communities. The two organizations have always shared the same executive leadership and governing body.

“Merging the two organizations under the new Mainstay name reflects our commitment to providing the full range of services and supports that our Residents need to live their best lives,” stated Larry Oaks, President and CEO of the new organization.

Although the name and brand identity are changing, the design of the houses in the new logo was inspired by similar designs in the logos of the earlier organizations, to recall the organization’s valuable history.

The name change and merger were implemented following a strategic plan that was created in 2018 to guide the organization through 2021. The plan will stabilize, modernize, and energize the nonprofit going forward, and can be found at our website, www.mainstayliving.org.
