Mainstay Receives Town Fair Tire Foundation Grant

Giving Program Presents Award for Second Straight Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEWTON, Mass. – August 29, 2023 – Mainstay Supportive Housing & Home Care, a Newton-based non-profit organization providing affordable and supportive housing for adults with disabilities, is pleased to announce it has received a $1,000 grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation Giving Program. This is the second year in a row the Foundation has made a grant to Mainstay.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Town Fair Tire Foundation,” said Larry Oaks, Mainstay President and CEO. “This unrestricted gift demonstrates their faith in our organization and is a strong endorsement of the mission we strive to achieve every day.”

Mainstay operates supportive homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Newton, Norwood, and Malden.

“We are honored and privileged to support your organization during these challenging times,” read a statement from the Town Fair Tire Foundation. “Your efforts in the community are greatly appreciated by all, and we hope this donation assists you in providing the services to those most in need.”

In addition to providing a place to live, Mainstay’s residents take part in a variety of activities at their homes including gardening, movie nights, family-style dinners, and more.

“We do more than provide a house for our residents. Our goal is to provide a safe and caring environment where all our residents can gain independence and prosper. We work collaboratively with residents and their families, and we support each person’s efforts to pursue their individual interests—inside and outside their supportive home.”

About Mainstay: Mainstay Supportive Housing is a registered 501(c) (3) that provides human service and housing programs across Massachusetts, including permanent supportive housing and compassionate, person-centered home care. Mainstay programs have helped hundreds of people live productive and stable lives in their own communities every day for all of these years. Mainstay was founded in 1975 to provide services to people with mental illness, and its mandate has since expanded to cover a variety of vulnerable populations, including low-income elders; people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities; and the recently homeless.
