Senior Living on Bellingham Hill, Chelsea- *Openings Available!*
Developed in 1999, Senior Living on Bellingham Hill in Chelsea, MA offers supportive housing for low-income elders 62 years and over. The project, which was an adaptive reuse of the former Chelsea Memorial Hospital, was funded by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The site has evolved into a Serviced Enriched Housing environment where tenants age in place and enjoy the highest possible quality of life.
Bellingham Hill is comprised of 60 units: sixteen (16) one-bedroom and forty-four (44) studio apartments, each with its own kitchen area, private bathroom, living-dining area, and a 24-hour emergency call system. All apartments and common areas are designed to be fully accessible and to accommodate physical limitations.
Senior Living at Prouty, Spencer
In March 2010, MHPI opened Senior Living at Prouty in Spencer, MA. After being selected by the Town, MHPI used a combination of federal and state funding sources to transform the former David Prouty Intermediate School into thirty-five units of supportive housing for very poor seniors.
The building is comprised of one section built in 1888 and the other in 1938, and represented two very distinct architectural styles. Working closely with our development team, we were able to stay true to the characteristics of both, while creating 29 one-bedroom apartments, 6 studios, and a two-bedroom resident manager apartment. Each unit has a kitchen, private bathroom, living-dining area, and a 24-hour emergency call system. All apartments and common areas are designed to be fully accessible and to accommodate physical limitations.
As is the case at Bellingham Hill, our Certified Home Health Aides and Nursing Assistants provide a substantial number of tenants with various long-term supports that allow them to live independently.
Hasseltine House, Newton Center
Hasseltine House is a beautiful home located in Newton Center, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. We offer housing for adults with a variety of abilities and needs, who would benefit from specialized services. Hasseltine House has 14 single bedrooms, 9 bathrooms and 2 kitchens. Three of the bedrooms have private bathrooms. Live in staff – who have their own separate apartment – provide morning support and are onsite overnight. Additional daily staffing (1 or 2 staff to 14 residents) is provided 7 days a week. Dinners are made with staff oversight 365 evenings per year. The house is professionally cleaned weekly and there are onsite laundry facilities. We offer residents opportunities to build new friendships and to participate in group or individual social and community activities, including on the weekends. The house welcomes residents ages 22 and up who can live happily and independently in a supportive setting, with daily staff support and an inclusive community of peers.
JCR Supported Housing, Norwood
John “Jack” Roche partnered with Norwood Housing Authority in 2010 to open a home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The residents have the freedom of living on their own while having the support of staff to assist with Activities of Daily Living. They bonded with their housemates as well as with neighbors in the community. The “Yellow House” became a successful housing model for independent living throughout Massachusetts and beyond. The need for this type of supportive housing continued to grow, three more homes were opened in Norwood in 2013. The homes continue to be an extension of Jack Roche and his family.
Cedar House, Malden
Cedar House is a beautiful home located in Malden, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. We offer supportive housing for adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Cedar House has 12 single bedrooms and 6 shared bathrooms. Live in staff – who have their own separate apartment – provide morning support and are onsite overnight. Additional daily staffing (1 or 2 staff to 12 residents) is provided 7 days a week. Dinners are provided 365 days per year, the house is professionally cleaned weekly and there are onsite laundry facilities. We offer residents opportunities to build new friendships and to participate in group and community activities, including on the weekends. The house welcomes residents ages 22 and up who can live happily and independently in a shared supportive setting, with daily staff support and an inclusive community of peers.
Cedar House’s premiere location is outstanding for residents with disabilities. The MBTA Orange Line is a short walk away. The MBTA’s RIDE – and, of course, Lyft and Uber- are also easily accessible to Cedar House residents.
