Color photo of Joyce Gair. Joyce is an older white woman with chin-length white hair. She is turned to the left and smiling at something off-carmera.

Our Mainstay family is sad to share the news of the passing of one of our founding board members, Joyce Gair.

Joyce was one of the kindest and most positive people we’ve known. Alongside her late husband, noted child psychiatrist Donald Gair, she spent her life working to improve the lives of people with significant mental health concerns. Her contributions to our mission and programs cannot be overstated, and her generous spirit will truly be missed.

Since 2019, Mainstay has presented annual awards to people who have made significant contributions to housing and services for people with disabilities. The first award for services was presented to Joyce, along with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for her lifetime of good work.

In lieu of flowers, Joyce’s family has asked that donations be made to Mainstay’s Supporting Success Scholarship Fund.
